About Megan
Hi my name is Megan Giddens and I am a sophomore at UNG this semester. I am a Kinesiology major with an emphasis in Exercise Science. I hope to attend Graduate school after completing undergraduate school with the hopes of becoming a Physical Therapist. I am in charge of creating the Tri-Fold for our event to inform the community of who and what our organization is. I am excited to be a part of this organization and Civic Engagement Project because I want to be able to give back to the people of the community. Dahlonega is a great place and I believe it is super important help give back to the community that you have been placed in.
Personal Timeline
-
We had at least 30 people fill out our questionnaire regarding food insecurity at our event.
-
Another one of my group members and I successfully created an informational trifold that taught the public about food insecurities within college campuses.
-
We helped to spread awareness of the large amount of students that struggle with food insecurity in college.
-
We also received donations from the public to give to the local food pantry to support the students struggling with food insecurity.
-
We even learned more about food insecurity ourselves by doing this event and it helped us to learn to be more grateful for what we have.
Actions
Skills
-
This event helped me to step out of my comfort zone by approaching students and informing them about our project.
-
This event also gave me a more positive attitude towards others and helped me to realize that every person goes through different things and that it is important to treat them as you would want to be treated.
-
I also became more successful when it comes to public speaking because I gave presentations to students that approached our event at Hoag.
-
This project also gave me a more giving heart and taught me that I can give to those who need it and that I can play a part in their well being.
